Carlton Alfred Smith: Christmas Eve (detail)

Carlton Alfred Smith (1853-1946) is a British artist who painted mainly genre scenes in watercolours. Many of his paintings are representations of domestic life in English cottages towards the end of the 19th century. He studied in France and at the Slade School in London, and exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours.
